Kombucha mocktails for New Year’s
We’ll soon be ringing in the New Year and this year we’re planning on fancy pre-drink mocktails with live bacteria culture. Luckily for us and you, Soki Choi is letting us share her best kombucha drink recipes to accompany our New Year’s festivities!
Perhaps the world’s most perfect alternative to beer and wine, kombucha also makes an excellent base for fancy drinks. If you’ve been following along since Step 1 you may have some bottles of homemade kombucha standing in the fridge, otherwise you’ll just have to buy some the next time you’re at the store.
10 fresh mint leaves
1 tablespoon of raw sugar
½ cup cold kombucha (preferably flavored with apple and mint)
Mint for garnish
Muddle mint leaves, lime wedges and sugar in a glass. Fill with ice and kombucha and top with a splash of club soda. Spruce up the drink with a mint sprig and serve to your New Year’s guests.
½ cup cranberry juice
½ cup cold kombucha
2 tablespoons lime juice (juice from about 2 limes)
Lime peel for garnish
Shake all ingredients (except the lime peel) in a shaker and pour into chilled cocktail glasses. Garnish with lime peel. Cheers!
Is kombucha alcohol-free?
Yes, homebrewed kombucha contains about 0.2-0.5% alcohol, which is below the regulations of what is considered alcohol-free.
