I contacted the company a while back to ask this question. Their reply was as follows: Each capsule of Magnesium Taurate contains 125 mg of elemental magnesium, as magnesium-taurine chelate. This is not the same as simply putting magnesium and taurine in a capsule, as two separate ingredients. Although we begin with 405 mg of taurine per capsule, the majority of that taurine is now a part of this fully reacted mineral chelate. and is not counted as free taurine. So if you are taking additional taurine supplements, you do not have to be concerned about taking too much taurine, if you also include Mg taurate in your supplement program. Although other magnesium supplements chelate with glycinate, malate, etc. using taurine as our chelating agent provides distinct benefits for cardiovascular and neuromuscular health, since studies have revealed the interchangeable and potentiating role of magnesium and taurine in human physiology.
