I disagree with the first responder to your question. Potassium Bitartrate does NOT reduce stomach acidity. However, Potassium Bicarbonate does reduce stomach acidity and should be used with caution, especially in anyone with a compromised digestive system. Potassium Bitartrate (which this is) and Potassium Bicarbonate are entirely different substances. I have a history of hypothyroid (which causes digestive issues) and stomach ulcer (more digestive issues and low acid due to previous use of antacids) and I have been using Cream of Tartar (COT) for more than 4 months to increase my potassium levels, which were very poor, with absolutely no side-effects whatsoever.
