Questions and Answers
Understand that taking zinc will deplete body’s copper. Does Vitamin Code Raw Zinc provide copper?
What form of zinc is this zinc supplement?
Why it says that it is not intended for children? The dose is not huge. My child is 9 years old.
What form of zinc is this zinc supplement? Also is this from wholefood ingredients or not?
Would using this cause a copper deficiency long term?
What kind of zinc is it?
Can I take this with Ginkgo Biloba?
Do you take these daily? Are they safe to take daily without inducing a copper deficiency?
Does it contains any soy?
Hi! Please advise what kind of zinc is used? I am looking for zinc sulfate.
Nope, wrong. A zinc supplement should NEVER provide copper, because zinc and copper share the same pathway and cannot be absorbed at the same time; one of these metals (usually copper) will occupy the pathway and block the other (zinc) out. They are mutually exclusive. This is the ONLY zinc formulation that copper-toxic people like myself can tolerate. Most individuals who are deficient in zinc are copper-toxic and cannot tolerate any copper. If you happen to be chelating using Alpha Lipoic Acid (such as using the frequent-dose chelation protocol developed by Andrew Hall Cutler, PhD, PE for amalgam illness and autism), you need a zinc-only formulation as you are NOT allowed to burden your body with supplemental copper. My experience is that you should not “take copper” in a supplement as most of those will give you the toxic form of copper. If you want your copper so badly, why don’t you eat a couple of nuts or an avocado, they can provide all your dietary needs of copper, just make sure you eat them SEPARATELY from any zinc containing supplements (or you may as well flush the zinc down the toilet, same effect less trouble). This is the ONLY correct formulation on the market that I was able to find. Stop messing with it.
Dear Click: As far as I know, from the info available, the Zinc in GOL’s “Raw Zinc” is Whole Food Zinc with Vitamin C. Garden of Life is a wonderful brand (I’ve been ordering it for years), and this Raw Zinc is also Non-GMO. Give it a try! Best, Steve
I don’t have children at home so I don’t feel I can tell you that they are ok to give children, especially when it says not to. I personally wouldn’t be afraid to give a child that age at least one a day because I feel they work, we haven’t had a cold so far this winter and work with people that get sick all the time. I am sorry I can’t be more of more help. I would ask at your local health food store if you have one close and I will do the same. I think Garden of life things are pretty pure and the fact that they are raw, I think are a good thing?
It’s a completely natural form of zinc. The supplement contains a raw, organic fruit and vegetable blend (apple, strawberry, beet, broccoli, carrot, spinach, tomato, blackberry, brussels sprout, celery, etc), a raw organic trace mineral blend ( spirulina, cracked-wall chlorella, ancient peat) and a raw probiotic and enzyme blend (lipase, protease, bromelain, lactobacillus, etc. ). One serving (2 capsules) daily provides 200% of our daily need in zinc and 100% of our daily need in vitamin C.
I’m not sure about that. I don’t take it every single day, just a few days per week if I feel my diet has been lacking. I’m not worried though as it’s not synthetic. It’s all real food and probiotics. 🙂
As far as I know, Vitamine Code Raw Zinc is organic zinc. This means that the zinc is in a more natural form. It is extracted from raw fruit and raw vegetables. It is easier digested in that way, I have heard.
Sorry, I have no idea. Best ask an herbalist
Only take one a day to get 15 mg. They are food-based so I think fine. Most multi’s have 15 mg
I order this and avoid soy. I don’t see any mention of Soy on the packaging at all.
They never specify, only that they combine it with a peptide and feed it to bacteria and then grow it until they have enough of the biological zinc, that’s how I understood the process. But it should be more bioavailable as a result. I’ve noticed immediate improvements in myself and it doesn’t cause diarrhea or any other problems. Just don’t exceed the safe dose.
