These results suggested that coq10 may increase fat oxidation with augmented autonomic nervous activity during low intensity exercise. Because coq10 has a rather complicated chemical structure and possesses several physical properties, such as low melting point, hydrophobic nature, and light sensitivity, it does not favor large-scale commercial production and highly sophisticated techniques need to be employed at all production stages to obtain a high quality product. Choosing a supplement can seem amazingly complex and thrust you far out of your comfort zone because while the supplement industry is regulated to some degree by the fda, responsibilities like quality control and good sourcing practices fall largely into the hands of the supplement manufacturer. However, there is limited research to support the health benefits that coq10 might offer. Also, taking coq10 at night may help with the body’s ability to use it. In summary, coq10 is a fat-soluble compound and antioxidant that has shown to have many health benefits, and is involved in the production of cellular energy. Coenzyme q 10 supplementation might thus be a more useful tool for the primary prevention of type 2 diabetes rather than for it’s management. Some early evidence suggested that long-term coenzyme q 10 supplementation (150 Mg/day) may improve insulin secretion and prevent progressive hearing loss in these patients (58, 59).
