This product seems to be very good for me and also affordable
Yes. Smells like mothballs. I wrote to the manuf. about an entirely different issue (hadn’t even smelled the contents) on the 2 bottles that I recently received from Foodpharmacy Blog – they had completely different types of lids and inner safety seals. The QA Manager at MRM wrote back but didn’t answer my original question – at all – it’s as though he didn’t even read my email. Responded with an assurance regarding the odour: “Thank you for your interest in MRM. As for our Vegan Vitamin D3 5, 000IU product lot#180602, this product has changed suppliers of the lichen D3 ingredient to replace all the unwanted other ingredients (such as maltodextrin and sucrose) with tapioca starch. Is this the lot # of your bottle? Unfortunately there is a pungent smell from the lichen (particularly strong for this one lot#) which is from the naturally occurring phytocompounds, specifically aromatic terpenes. Again this odor is from the extraction of the Vitamin D3 and containing the lichen’s natural terpenes. The past unfavorable other ingredients masked this odor in the previous material. The product is safe to consume as this is typical of this material and this production has passed all quality testing. We are working with the manufacturer in minimizing/eliminating this odor in future productions. If you would like, I do have a newer lot which does not have this strong of a smell and I can send a replacement bottle. Simply reply with your address (within US and no PO box). Appreciate your feedback and hope you have a great rest of your day.”
