I am an user in Hong Kong. The water here is added with chlorine. (1) When I wash clothes by hand with Nellie’s laundry soda, I notice there is ammonia smell after adding water to the powder. Why? (2) I add laundry soda to drawer of front load washing machine, but laundry soda still sticks in the drawer and cannot be rinsed into machine completely. Pls kindly advise.

I’ve found that it is best to use this in combination with another laundry detergent; Nellie’s seems to act as a softener with some cleansing properties but it doesn’t seem to be enough on its own. If your clothes are not very dirty, i. e. no smell, it could be enough on its own, but if there is even a hint of dirt or smell I’d recommend supplementing with a small additional amount of detergent. Btw, Nellie’s adds a really nice clean smell.

I would think this is very safe for use on baby clothes as it is an all natural product and rinses clean. I love the way it leaves my clothes smelling fresh. If you have some stains that you are worried about just stop the washer for about 10 mins to let the clothes soak. Also, I use the brightening powder with my whites and it works very well.
