New Chapter, Wholemega, Extra-Virgin Wild Alaskan Salmon, Whole Fish Oil, 1,000 mg, 60 Softgels Review

High quality fish oil. Happy to see that P&G hasn’t altered it’s quality yet.

First bought 60 pieces, try it. Liked. We ordered 180 pieces. Disappointed. PROS: Cold pressed salmon oil – out of competition! full range of omega acids; natural D3 and astaxanthin; no extraneous fillers; They took the capsules from the first order – they tasted delicious sweet fat inside, like the belly of the freshest salmon; According to Labdoor reports, fat is very clean; mercury and impurities are usually removed during the distillation process; such low values during cold pressing only indicate the highest quality of the feedstock. DISADVANTAGES: Fat from the second order turned out to be of much worse quality and began to cause unpleasant fish burps, regardless of the time of administration; The recommended daily dose of omega-3 is 1000 mg; there are only 520 per serving, i. e. if you increase the intake to preventive 4 capsules, the price will double. If we carry out standardization (for comparison with other manufacturers) and calculate the content of omega-3 per 1 g of fat, it turns out that it is even half as much! This is only 85 mg of EPA and 100 mg of DHA per capsule (according to Labdoor – which is even lower than the manufacturer claims). Therefore, this fish oil, in spite of all its advantages and even in the case of a successful batch, makes sense only to those who can afford to drink 4-5 pieces a day as a prophylaxis, or even more for therapeutic purposes.

Questions and Answers

hi. may i know the source of gelatin?
is this suitable for 1 yr old kid? if not, which products of new chapter are suitable?
Are these capsules chewable without losing its properties? I am planning to give them to my kid and she won’t swallow a capsule.

Hi, Sorry I am unable to answer your question as I do not have that information.
Personally I would seek the advice of a professional! I’ve never heard of 1 year old kids consuming fish oil in tablet form.
I chew them. They have a soft gel coating which is a bit chewy and the fish oil inside is virtually tasteless, so I have no problem with them. However, I am an adult and have never given them to my kids, so I can’t predict how a child would respond to the texture and flavor. My best advice is, try it yourself and see what you think before giving it to your daughter. Some of my kids can’t swallow capsules either, but in the case of other supplements with similar qualities, they have been able to chew softgels without gagging.
