Although research remains incomplete, the idea that people taking chemotherapy should avoid antioxidants is not supported by scientific research. While many antioxidants have been researched to treat a large number of diseases by reducing the negative effect of oxidative stress, acetylcysteine is one of the few that has yielded promising results, and is currently already approved for the treatment of paracetamol overdose.
Nac protected various tissues against free radicals, possibly by boosting glutathione and other antioxidants. 36, Nac (Acetylcysteine) drug interactions. Yes, the very endlessly debilitating one, which is born not in the bronchi, but in the sinuses of the nose, and from which no classic antitussive drugs can help. This is when the anatomy of the sinuses is changed so that washing and inhalation are inaccessible, and the mucus is very thick, does not come out through the nose, but slowly flows down the throat, causing a dry cough. This is where N-acetyl-cysteine acts as a saboteur behind enemy lines. Thinns, cleanses, soothes. If you are familiar with this problem, I highly recommend trying it.

Vegans and vegetarians are at increased risks for L-cysteine deficiencies because as a natural compound it is found primarily in foods like red meats, seafood, poultry, dairy products and others that are not suitable for animal-free diets. Vegan L-cysteine is available, wholly derived from plant sources, but it is costly, especially when compared to non-vegan products and you would have to read the makers descriptions to discern this. If the label is not specific and does not mention Vegan or plant sources then look for one that does. This product, which I would recommend to most, states on the label “not manufactured with wheat, gluten, soy, milk, egg, fish, shellfish or tree nut ingredients” – however, red meats and poultry are not mentioned in that statement.
