Thorne Research, Vitamin K2, 1 fl oz (30 ml) Product Review

Olive oil. Good. Good. Vit K2. Initial outlay is high, but cost for a low but effective dose is low – the cost/benefit ratio is low to medium (for me). Intestine irritation and fever. Used by the whole family. Highest dose Vit K2 available at the lowest price. Good Remedy for Babies. High quality

It’s the most expensive olive oil you will ever buy.

Very small bottle, but can eat for a long time

I think its a good product, its an expensive outlay, but you are getting plenty of vitamin K2 for your buck. My son says his ankles hurt less when he takes this (he does gymnastics). We are taking it for teeth also, hard to tell for the results on that one, because its a long term thing

I find this product excellent for my problem as it is not in capsule form which I am allergic to; however, I prefer this product with the eye dropper as it used to be as the drops come out much easier,

When I first used this product several years ago, I was taking vitamin D3 on a doctor’s recommendation (blood tests for D were low). I found reports that K2 would help normalize intracellular Calcium (tests were high), so I tried it. However, whenever I would use this product, I experienced a strong correlation with chest pains developing the next day, even when taking a relatively low dose. Eventually, I was experiencing chest pains all the time even without the K2, so I dropped the D3 too, and the pains went away. After a time, I restarted the K2, but not the D3 – no chest pains. My teeth stay cleaner when on K2, and food tastes better though at higher doses (8+ drops/day $$$). I continue taking it in order to reduce intracellular Calcium, but I no longer supplement D3. I prefer the pure K2 over the K2/D3 blend. I have not tried the MK-7 form of K2, but I benefit from the MK-4 form, so am sticking with it. In my experience, Thorne Research products are superior to most others, as is Metabolic Maintenance products. I consider both brands to be standouts for potency and the minimal use of fillers.

Just 2 drops caused intestine irritation and fever. Be very careful with the dose

The effect is good, and complement with D3.

If you’re looking for a cheap high dose Vit K2 then this is it. The dropper is a bit annoying as it’s too slow but at 1 mg/drop it’s quite potent. It’s the only way to get 15 mg/dose (15 drops) on the Foodpharmacy Blog website. Alternatively you can buy tablets but they tend to be expensive and it takes 3x 5 mg tablets to match 15 drops. There are 80x 15 mg doses in a bottle which makes this way cheaper than any other alternative I can find. It’s only a small volume of oil so you barely even taste it as it goes down. That makes it very easy to take. Using this to improve bone density (teeth) and remove calcium from soft tissues. 🙂

Bought specifically to not do in the hospital an injection of vitamin K baby. Excellent replacement prick. In total, 4 drops are needed.

Prefer liquid supplements. Easy to take and absorb. High quality supplement. I have been using for a few years. Highly recommend.

Questions and Answers

Is this synthetic K-2, or natural, which is then concentrated.
The newly changed type of dropping is hard to use. Can it be back to spuit type? The current type is hard to make drops and too slow to drop them!
Can this be given to newborn? As alternative to vitamin k injection at birth? If can be given, how many drops for 3kg newborn?
Does this product still come without dropper? I bought one last year, but when I take one drop, another gets into the cap, causing 50 % go to waste. Also one has to wait long for that drop to come. Not worthy without the dropper.
is there a smaller quantity or smaller than 30ml?
Can liquid vitamin K2 (MK4) from Thorne Research be taken transdermally, by topical administration? If yes, how exactly?
why is this price increasing like every week?
is it vegan?
can I take these drops? when breastfeeding
Hello, please say me if 15 drops contain 15 mg or 15 mcg?

Got this answer from Thorn: The source of the Vitamin K2 is from a natural plant source Geraniol. The mixed tocopherols are from soy but contain no soy residue. Medium chain triglyceride are from palm kernel oil.
I lie down looking up and it takes me a whole minute (60 seconds) or more to wait for all 15 drops haha. I will continue buying though. I’ll try to taking out the cap and use the old dropper.
I bought this for my newborn, so yes, it can be used instead of injection.1 drop (ca.2 mg) At first feed, at 1 week, 4 weeks, 8 weeks
The answer to your question is yes. This product only has the cap and a lid that provides one drop I believe it is 1 mg. However if it provides any conciliation there is about an 8- 10 second wait time before a second drop comes out. There is no dropper, but I find that this format is quite acceptable for my purposes. I hope that this is useful for your decision process.
No.
Some people have told me that you can use this transdermally, the dose you receive will end up being smaller because skin absorption is not as complete. I think it maybe around 20% of whatever you put on. I use Vitamin D3 in MCT oil this way too.
On Foodpharmacy Blog, the price has been stable at $65 in the last few months
Hi, It doesn’t specify if it is vegan but online it says vegan. Don’t quote me
Basically, yes. Supplement companies will always use disclaimers about being pregnant or breastfeeding, unless there’s very specific studies. So we have to rely on critical thinking and the thought process of why you’re taking something, and the quality of the item. If you’re taking this to supplement the K2 we ‘should’ have in food (ie. because animals aren’t raised the same way anymore), which is why you’re likely taking in the first place, and it’s a supplement from a food source anyways (ie. not synthetic), then why not keep using? You would also need to ask if you need those nutrients, and of course your newborn needs some too 🙂 I know that may not be the ‘hard definitive answer’ you want, but that doesn’t exist. Also, the amount of drops this says to take is for some condition I think, I can’t recall what, but I only use 5 drops per day.
