I’ve bought over 20 bottles of now Foods mag citrate pure powder, it has never tasted really sour, more sweet than sour. also depends on how much water you mix it with. I tried a mag citrate from Walmart, also pure powder, different brand, nothing else in it though, and it tasted very sour, and I tossed it thinking there was something wrong with it. So we are kind of in opposite boats, but I hope that answers your question.
This Magnesium is good to keep you regular however it is not the one that is heart healthy. With this one you take 1/2 teaspoon twice daily on an empty stomach in a glass of water. You do not take it after a meal.
There is 400mg magnesium in it. The rest are other ingredients of magnesium citrate, I guess. (C6H6MgO7)
It is almost tasteless in (hot) water, but it “smells” a bit like a chalk, which I don’t find repulsive. I found that with a decaf goes best – better taste of the de-coffee!
You can even take it in a smaller amount of water or other liquids, although drinking is good for you of course. You can mix it in with yoghurt or smoothies, or even mix it in warm custard or pudding (it makes it nice and frothy, which I like).
We have ours with the Calcium Citrate in our morning drink which contains spirulina and chlorella and it is fine.
