Hi, I think it’s okay to take these together. I take quite a bit of D3 (8, 000 IU daily) and also 5-HTP at night for sleep and restless mind. No problems.
I take it in the evening, 20-40 minutes before bed. Typically, I begin to feel drowsy in 15-20 minutes, so I think it’s pretty effective 🙂
5htp builds up in the brain and then gets depleted in time’s of significant stress. When I find my moods less stable or I am getting mild depression I use 200mg at 5pm.5pm is a good time because 5htp converts to melatonin in about 5 hours. So it may improve sleep too! I then use the supplement for 2 months and then go off for 2 months. OR You can also use it every- other week. For me I find 2 months on 2 months off at 200mg works best. If you are severely deficient you could take it for longer until symptoms improve but I would suggest taking breaks periodically. Dr Hyla Class is the best resource for this type of brain support.
